Some employers reward members of staff for their exceptional contribution to the company by giving them extra money. This practice can act as an incentive for some but may also have a negative impact on others. To what extent is this style of management effective? Are there better ways of encouraging employees to work hard?
Nowadays some companies pay extra money to employees who contribute to them. From a point of some people, this is a good action for people who take additional money, whereas a bad for the other workers. This essay will elaborate on both positive and negative effects of giving extra money to employees, before giving personal opinion.
On one side of the argument, there are some people who argue that the benefits outweigh its disadvantages. From a competition standpoint, the main reason for this believing is that motivating and inspiring people as the form of extra money make them work effectively. For example, seeing their counterparts taking extra money, other workers do their best to be a nominee for this award. As a result, it can bring more benefits for their workplace. Therefore, employers ought to pay more for their employees making special contributions.
On the contrary, from a moral point, it causes conflicts among staff which, consequently, effects on work effectiveness in the company. For instance, if one worker takes more money than his colleague on accomplishing the same task, the second one will disappoint from his boss and feel envy with his partner. Therefore, employers should be more careful with monitorial praising for their accomplishments.
By analyzing advantages and drawbacks of material praising the employees, who contribute exceptionally for their companies, I tend to believe that this is a good practice to encourage staff to work effectively. It is anticipated that this will continue in this manner in the future.
